Before reading these pukapuka ākonga have learnt the last 9 oro (sounds) and pū/reta (letters) of the Te Arapū Māori. These are i, ī, n, w, ng, u, ū, wh. They also contain the kupu mahara – au, ahau, haere, koe.
Kaupae 2 pukapuka continue with the adventures of Ata, Kopa, Tame, Māmā and Pāpa. We are also introduced to Koro and a Tākuta Niho.
